History and Highlights
World Climate Solutions is the result of an evolving collaborative process and partnership between NIDAB Networking, a leading organizer and facilitator platforms for networking and capacity building, and Monday Morning, the largest independent think tank.
The first event was held in 2007 as Copenhagen Climate Solutions and brought together more than 600 climate and energy stakeholders. In 2008 the organizers partnered with Nordic Council of Ministers and Nordic Energy Research to create a pan-Nordic event for matchmaking energy stakeholders from across the Nordic region and building a yearly platform where stakeholders from abroad could meet central Nordic experts, companies and politicians working on energy, climate policy and clean tech research and market development.
In 2009 Nordic Climate Solutions was a central platform for business leaders and clean tech investors to meet, share and communicate their visions for a climate treaty at COP15, the 2009 UN Climate Summit in Copenhagen. More than 1400 people took part in the discussions on transportation, renewable energy, smart grids and energy efficiency and thereby provided input to a business communiqué for policy makers.
From 2010 World Climate Solutions will put focus on opportunities for global clean tech collaboration and showcase key technologies and business models that work and are instrumental to driving smart growth and creating smart cities. World Climate Solutions will be officially hosted by the City of Copenhagen and is inviting Nordic and International mayors and city representatives to join the discussions and share their best practices for public-private collaborations that create solutions for greener, better cities.
